Camp Family
"Behold the work of the old. Let your heritage not be lost, but bequeath it as a memory, treasure and blessing.
Gather the lost and the hidden and preserve it for thy children." - Christian Metz 1846

The Camp family has this surname because of the adoption of my grandfather Leon Sevier Camp (born Merle Hoke). From research I and other's have done it seems that Leon’s mother died before he turned 1 year of age. His father John Walter Hoke put him and at least 1 other child, Hazel Hoke, into the Oregon Children’s Home Society and left. As of this date I have not been able to find where John Walter Hoke went to or what happened to him. He would have been about 42 years of age at the time of leaving.  Leon Sevier Camp also left his family when his children were young  and disappeared not to be heard from for many years. Then in about 1978 he showed back up at his daughter’s home in Portland Oregon. According to Leon while he was gone he married a woman named Mable Antoinette Tuppling who passed away in Denver Colorado.  He lived the rest of his life in Portland Oregon.
