Spellings - CZECH and ZECH
I have researched the Czech family to find the ancestors of my Great Grandmother Pauline Czech - Vchulek. Her story is a little different than others. When she was a toddler her father Mathias Czech gave her to his sister Mary (Maria Zech) Hoffman. I cannot tell you exactly why this happen or the exact date. At the age of 16 in the 1900 census living with her Uncle and Aunt, Christ and Mary (Zech) Hoffman, she is listed as a servant. The same census shows Mary's brother Norbert Zech as a laborer. Christ and Mary Hoffman had just one son Carl who was born 4 years after Pauline. I am at this time trying to put together a better timeline as to when things happened and maybe that will tell me why.
